The device settings section allows you to define the mobile compatibility for your survey. We detect the respondent's device type and based on that, the respondent can be terminated or presented with an experience enhanced for their particular device type. Before launching, a mobile compatible survey is checked for potential problems (e.g. usage of Flash questions, question size).
1: Accessing the Device Settings
The project settings/summary window allows you to quickly review and adjust the general settings for your survey, including the device settings. It appears when you create and name a new survey. The project summary can also be accessed within the stage, or in the research hub, by selecting "Project Summary" in the "Build" menu of the project controls.
Click on "Device Settings" to modify the settings for the project.
2: Device Settings Overview
Click "Save" to save any changes made to the device settings for this project. Click on the arrow next to the save button to select "Save for this project" or if you'd like the device settings to be the default for future projects, select "Save and set as defaults."
2.1: Allowing Devices
Select each device type you would like to allow for your survey.
- Desktops: Check to allow standard desktop or laptop computers.
- Tablets: Check to allow modern tablets like the iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab.
- Smartphones: Check to allow new devices like the iPhone, Android-based devices, webOS and newer Blackberries with touch input capabilities.
- Feature Phones: Check to allow older devices that have HTML-capable browsers with a screen width of 240px or wider.
If a device is not allowed, respondents attempting to take the survey on these devices will be shown a message. You may edit the default message by entering a custom message in the message field.
